Apocynaceae

Apocynaceae or dogbane family is a family of flowering plants, that includes trees, shrubs, herbs, and lianas. There are about 1500 species divided into about 424 genera. Recent taxonomic changes placed the family Asclepiadaceae, including genus Asclepias under Apocynaceae into subfamily Asclepiadoideae. Many species are tall trees found in tropical rainforests, and most are from the tropics and subtropics, but some grow in tropical dry, xeric environments. Flowers can occur both individually or as aggregates. A milky latex is often a characteristic of this family. Many important pharmaceutical compounds have been extracted from plants in this family. Plants in this family are planted for their incredibly fragrant flowers. Succulent lovers will know of the genera Adenium, Brachystelma, Pachypodium, Plumeria, , etc..., all of which belong to the Apocynaceae.

We have Asclepias, Brachystelma, Ceropegia, Pachycarpus, and Raphionacme on the PBS wiki.
