Campanulaceae

Campanulaceae or the bellflower family is a large family with more than 70 genera and 2000 species. Species are found in many parts of the world, but concentrated in the Northern Hemisphere. They are annuals, perennials, shrubs and small trees, usually with a milky non-toxic sap. The leaves are usually alternate and simple. Flowers are regular, bell shaped, funnel-form or salver-form with petals, sepals and stamens usually in 5 parts and the petals joined. The ovary is usually inferior. The fruit is a capsule or a berry.

Only a few of the genera would qualify to be included on our wiki. Five genera with tubers that have wiki pages are: Canarina, Codonopsis, Cyphia, Ostrowskia, and Platycodon.
