Linguella

Linguella is a genus in the Orchidaceae family of five species found in Australia and New Zealand. Jones and Clements (2002, Australian Orchid Research volume 4) segregated a number of species from Pterostylis including this genus. This new genus represents the nana or the dwarf group. These proposed changes have not been accepted by everyone and we are showing the pictures on both wiki pages until the debate is more settled. This genus is pollinated by male insects of the fungus gnat and mosquito family.

Linguella sp. , syn. Pterostylis sp. This unknown species was seen in a forested area in southwestern Western Australia and photographed by Bob Rutemoeller, September 2007. Malcolm Thomas suspects it may be Linguella dilatata, one of the two species native to Western Australia.
